Derrick VaughnDerrick has established an exceptional reputation in the field of Fine Arts. A graduate of Duke Ellington School of the Arts, developed a unique and creative style of visual art. It was at Ellington where Derrick began to realize that art was his communication with the world.

From Ellington, Derrick attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Communication Arts Illustration and Design. As an enthusiastic student of illustration art, commissioned by various clients, Derrick works avidly to solve conceptual and aesthetic illustration art problems.
Derrick is adept in various mediums however he is partial to working with oils or watercolors. Before founding spotlight studios, he worked as a curator at the 8-Rock Gallery as a curator in Washington, DC. He also taught at Minor Elementary School, Maya Angelou Public Charter School to name a few,

Derrick on numerous occasions has been featured at different exhibitions and events though out the United States. Some of his commissioned events include The Washington Capitol Jazz Fest and The Rhythm and Blues Star Fest amongst others.

Derrickā€™s client list includes Peggy Copper Cafritz President of the Board Of Education, Skip Flemming Former owner of WKYS, a local radio station in, David Sandborne Jazz musican, Kieth Sweat singer/entrepreuer and acclaimed restaurant club the industry in Atlanta GA.;actress extraordinary Simbi Khali of Thrid Rock From the Sun Television Series.
